What is Religion?
Religion is a system of beliefs representing the relationship of physical reality to the spiritual reality in a systematic worship of spiritual beings or God(s).
There are so many religions out there but they can’t all be representing truth. Since there can only be one absolute truth leading to: the one true God, His will, our origin, our morality, our destiny and meaning of our lives; all others are perversion of truth. This truth must consistently cohere and correspond to physical and spiritual reality.
There are so many different religions that claim truth and even closely compare to Christianity but deviate from the truth. There are many incoherent lies that do not correspond to reality to lead people astray into rebellion against God. Some religions lift up mankind to being gods when obviously all have died - thus proving to be false. Some are: Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, New Age, Mormonism, occult religions, mysticism, satanism and atheism. Other religions diminish mankind as merely animals without a God to worship - as in evolution. Evolution is is an engine for deism that leads to atheism.
All other religions having various temples are also attempts to copy the idea of a place of worship. But rather than worshiping God they set up idols of stone, metal, wood or other compositions to be worshiped and admired. God said not to make an image at all (Exodus 20:3-6). “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”-John 4:24.
Unfortunately there are even false christian churches. They may claim to preach the truth but at close examination it can become apparent that they deviate from the truth, some a little some a lot. They may do so either due to poor understanding of God’s Word or intentionally to gather a large number of people for profit, fame or both. It is critical that we constantly examine the word of God for ourselves so we can have the right understanding of God’s truth. (Acts 17:11)
What is Prayer?
Prayer is a communication channel for gratitude and pleas directed to a mind not bound by physical reality, such as God.
It is very common that prayer is directed to a deity or a spiritual entity in terms of thanks or request. In any way the person praying believes that there is a being that hears their requests. This notion or prayer is very widely understood but varies greatly from one religion to another. Some pray to God, some pray to many gods, some pray to other spiritual beings such as saints or loved ones who have passed away from this life.
Many cultures and religions have distorted the truth of prayer to a religious ceremonial act. God created mankind in His image and gave them paradise to live and prosper in. Because mankind was deceived and sinned - they were cast out of the garden of Eden (Genesis 3:23) and lost the relationship they had with God. No longer being able to speak to God directly they prayed to God that He may hear their prayers (Genesis 4:26).
People today pray to: false gods, spirits (ascended masters, angels, demons, space brothers), saints (Queen of heaven-Virgin Mary, apostoles, leaders), loved ones who passed away (relatives, ancestors), the universal consciousness (unknown forces), nature and oneself.
None of these are commanded by God but some seek them out anyway; Ecclesiastes 7:29. God specifically commanded in Deuteronomy 18:10-14 not to participate in such acts. Those who pray to and communicate with these spirits will be deceived.
The purpose of prayer is to communicate to God and to restore our relationship with Him. When people pray to other beings than the true God they may be influenced by the spirits they call out to. The reality is that even if the spirits respond to them - they are deceiving spirits. These beings can have a very strong influence over people’s lives and many may even be possessed by them. By praying to these beings and interacting with them through mantras, rituals, channeling and astral projections - they may become possessed by them, hurt and even killed. These people can become trapped by them and enslaved against their will. Under such influence people have committed great atrocities and even against their own people.
We only need to pray to the one true God - Who is the Spirit of TRUTH (John 16:13). We need to seek only God and be filled with His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-21, 1-Timothy 4:16) and He will direct our minds to life a true relationship with Him.
